Event description

The occasion of the 100th anniversary of Estonian statehood was celebrated with a military parade on Tallinn's Freedom Square. The parade included some 1,100 participants and more than a hundred units of military equipment. The parade was led by Gen. Riho Terras, President Kersti Kaljulaid was present to greet the different units. All service branches of the Estonian Defence Forces were present in the parade as well as the National Defence College, the Baltic Defence College, the Guard Battalion, the HQ Support & Signal Battalion, the 1st and 2nd Infantry Brigades, Support Command, an anti-tank unit of the Defence League's Rapla region, a mortar unit of the Defence League's Harju region, the Women's Defence League, and two Defence League units of the Tallinn area. Cadets of the Estonian Academy of Security Sciences participated as well. Estonia's NATO allies and other partners were represented as well, with officers of Finland, France, Georgia, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Sweden, Ukraine, Britain, Denmark, and the United States present. The British and Danish personnel marching in the parade belong to the two countries' units currently deployed to Estonia as part of the local NATO battle group.
