Biden give the sign to Baltic states: Don't take Trump seriously

Video info

Date: 2016-08-23 19:50:43
Place: Riga, Latvia
Duration: 2:32

Event description

Vice President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, visits Latvia on Tuesday to meet with the presidents of the three Baltic states. Biden told to reporters that the U.S. remains committed to NATO's Article 5, the key principle of collective defense of all alliance members. He dismissed comments from Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump that, were he to win November's election, he might withdraw U.S. backing for the Baltics' defense. Joe Biden promised a U.S. response to any act of Russian aggression in Europe and told Baltic leaders to ignore Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s dismissive comments about the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Meeting with the leaders of Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania earlier Tuesday, Mr. Biden said Mr. Trump’s positions on NATO are “nothing that should be taken seriously.”

US Vice President

01:05-02:32 (EN) And despite what you hear, there is a deep, wide commitment to NATO in my country. Don't listen to that other fellow, though he may know what he speaks, he doesn't know, what he speaks. We will never forget the article five to distribute for the first time after U.S. were attacked on 09.11. We will respond. If Russia once again may take aggressive action and threat it's western neighbours, NATO remains as vital today as it ever has been.
