On June 3, 1944, 119 inhabitants of the village of Pirchüpai were killed in the Republic of Lithuania. German punishers announced the inhabitants of this town in collaboration with the Soviet partisans. 119 people, mostly children, old men and women, were burnt alive in one of the village sheds. According to historians, the Soviet partisans for the civilians of Lithuania were no less a disaster than the Germans. It should be noted that during the Second World War, residents of the Lithuanian village did not provide support to the Soviet partisans and created many groups for self-defense, which protected the villages from outsiders.
