Kalnaberžė village in Kedainiai region is known for its unusual annual holiday, which is held in June, the Day of Eating Crows. Crows are cooked just like any other meat - it is pickled, and then fried, stewed or boiled. As local residents note, in ancient times this custom was widespread, then forgotten, but not so long ago was restored again. Not only locals, but also Lithuanians from other regions of the republic, as well as numerous guests, for whom such events are a real exotic, come to the feast of eating crow meat. According to some who tried such a strange dish, the taste of crow meat is no different from chicken or turkey, and if you don’t know what to eat, it’s hard to guess.
